Row policies and sync modes

Policies decide what happens when the sheet and Shopify disagree. Modes decide whether you create, update, or both—and how often.

Prerequisites

  • Mapping and match key configured

Steps

  1. Set policy for new rows: create products, or skip.
  2. Set policy for matched rows: update mapped fields, update price & inventory only, or skip.
  3. Set policy for removed rows (in ledger, missing from sheet): do nothing, archive, or set inventory to 0. There is no hard-delete option—by design.
  4. Choose a mode: one-time import (creates), one-time update (updates), or scheduled sync (creates + updates on hourly/daily/weekly where your plan allows).

Tips

  • Scheduled runs apply without Preview—use removal guards and careful worksheets; Preview is for manual runs.
  • Prefer archive over inventing a delete workflow; archive is reversible in Shopify Admin.

Troubleshooting

  • Unexpected archives: a filtered sheet hid rows—restore the full sheet and Preview before Apply.
  • Nothing created on import: new-row policy may be “skip,” or rows failed match/validation (see Logs).
