What you get out of this flow

Outcomes you can expect when you run this playbook inside EShopSet on Shopify.

  • Protect titles, descriptions, and images from sheet overwrites
  • Still move price and inventory on schedule
  • Ideal for marketing-led catalogs with ops-owned stock sheets

Why a narrow policy exists

Full-row syncs are powerful and dangerous. A supplier sheet rarely has better product storytelling than your brand team. Price/inventory-only policy encodes that organizational truth into Data Sync.

How it works in EShopSet

In Data Sync Settings, set matched-row policy to update price and inventory only. Map those columns; keep content columns out of the apply path. Preview should show updates without content-field churn.

Example: agency + merchant split

An agency wrote PDP copy in Shopify; the merchant updated a 1,800-row cost/stock sheet daily. After switching to price/inventory-only, zero copy regressions appeared in weekly QA (previously ~20–40 PDPs/week needed rollbacks).

Playbook

  1. Confirm who owns copy vs commerce facts.
  2. Enable price/inventory-only for matched rows.
  3. Run preview; verify no title/body changes listed.
  4. Apply; spot-check 5 PDPs for copy integrity and 5 for price accuracy.
  5. Keep a separate process for rare content imports.

What to measure

  • Content rollback tickets after sync
  • Price/inventory accuracy vs sheet
